Despite its delay, fans are still eagerly anticipating the release of Cris Tales, thanks to its hand-drawn 2D environment and unique take on traditional turn-based battles. Now, with only a few days away from release, here’s everything players should know before buying Cris Tales.

Cris Tales Story and Trailer
Dreams Uncorporated previously revealed that Cris Tales is influenced by games such as Chrono Trigger, Bravely Default, and Persona 5. Just from the trailer alone, eagle-eyed fans should be able to notice the similarities of those games to Cris Tales, especially in its core gameplay. For the uninitiated, Cris Tales follows the story of Crisbell, an orphan girl who lives in the Narim Orphanage. She later discovers that she manifests time-based powers, and players will be transported to a vivid world complete with a diverse cast of characters as they follow Crisbell on a quest to stop a scheme that threatens the world.
Alongside the announcement of its new release date, Dreams Uncorporated launched a new trailer for Cris Tales. The short trailer showcased a combination of cinematics and gameplay highlighting the game’s key features and characters. Among the features shown in the trailer are the time warp system, the roster of characters, and the hand-drawn graphics that players will encounter in the game.
Cris Tales Gameplay
According to Cris Tales’ official description, the game will take an average of 20 hours for players to unravel and stop the plan of the Empress and save the world through Crisbell’s time manipulation abilities. The upcoming game is also set to combine classic elements of traditional RPG games with turn-based combat.
Given its story, Dreams Uncorporated has been promoting Cris Tales’ unique time warp mechanics as the game’s main feature. In the game, players will be able to see past, present, and future. Additionally, the way players use Cribell’s time manipulation abilities will significantly impact just about everything in the game, from the flow of combat to the story of the world and characters. From everything revealed about Cris Tales so far, it is apparent that choices players make will have an important role in unraveling the game’s story and which of the several endings players will eventually get.
What is Cris Tales Release Date and Platforms
As previously mentioned, Cris Tales was supposed to release in November of last year. However, in October of 2020, Dreams Uncorporated revealed that the game would be delayed at a later date in order to polish its gameplay and incorporate fan feedback from the playable demo. Cris Tales suffered from another delay yet again in April, but the developers revealed its current release date of July 20.
For players who wish to experience Cris Tales’ playable demo, it is still available to download on all the platforms the game will be available in, namely, the Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S. The playable demo offers players a glimpse of Cris Tales’ story and gameplay, as well as the optional Coliseum mode, which is designed to give players an overview of the game’s combat system. Barring further setbacks, it appears that Cris Tales will now be released as intended, making it one of the biggest games to release on both current-gen and last-gen platforms.
