It was previously announced from developer Saber Interactive that Evil Dead: The Game will feature four DLC updates packaged into its first Season Pass, which fans will already have secured if they had pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition or the Collector’s Edition. While it is clear that Saber intends to add DLC at some point, when these updates will be released is a mystery, and may be why players have decided not to purchase the game in its early condition. As such, Evil Dead: The Game could entice players if it were to appear on PlayStation Plus as one of its monthly incentives.

Evil Dead: The Game on PS Plus Could Widen Its Audience

If Evil Dead: The Game became available as part of one of PlayStation Plus’ monthly downloadable titles, fans who are interested in it but are not sure what the state of its longevity will be like could be introduced to it. It is understandable that fans might be wary about purchasing another asymmetrical horror title when little has been acknowledged or announced about its potential future content. No matter how successful, popular, or fun Evil Dead: The Game is, it may be difficult for some fans to justify purchasing it if details about its significant content updates have not yet been disclosed.

Evil Dead: The Game has a lot of moving parts in its base content, but fans who have already purchased it have likely purchased it because of their love for the IP in particular. The game honors its source material with deep-cut characters and lore, and gamers who are uninitiated with the Evil Dead franchise may feel too distanced from the game as a result from a third-party perspective. Evil Dead: The Game thankfully features crossplay, with icons next to the survivor players’ character avatars that indicate which platform they are playing on.

Evil Dead: The Game on PS Plus Could Include Future DLC

Even if PlayStation Plus would only open it up to PlayStation users, this could still potentially spike its player-base on PS4 and PS5. In the meantime, there is nothing to suggest that this will happen down the line. Evil Dead: The Game just came out last weekend, so it is likely that it will not appear as a free title on the PlayStation Plus program for quite some time, even if it was indeed planned for the future.

However, it would make sense for Evil Dead: The Game to arrive as one of the two monthly downloadable titles for PlayStation Plus, as it would expand the player-base further. Moreover, once Evil Dead: The Game has more DLCs included in it, it may be even more likely that it could appear on PlayStation Plus in a complete or ultimate edition with that content already packaged into it. This would perhaps irritate fans who decided to purchase the game back when it originally released, but at the same time, the Season Pass is included for players who had pre-ordered certain editions and each DLC will come at no extra cost. For now, players can continue to enjoy the base game and eagerly await whatever arrives in its first Season Pass DLC.

Evil Dead: The Game is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
