Finding Collectibles in The First Spark
There are a total of nine collectibles in The First Spark, most of which can be found before Jesse brings Peter D’Abano’s severed head to his father. They’re spread out around the Rentier Institute in bookshelves and on tables. Very few of them are hidden at all, suggesting that the developers really want players to learn these bits of history about the Rentier family if nothing else.

The first collectible lies only a few steps away from where Jesse starts the mission. It’s resting on the other side of the larger carriage on Jesse’s right. Round the fountain and walk to the other side of the carriage to find it.

Daily Mail News 2/4
The second part of the Daily Mail News can be found sitting on a desk in the library, which is the room to the left of the entrance. The third and fourth parts of the Daily Mail News don’t show up until much later missions. Evil West is a pretty short game though, so players won’t have to wait long.
President Lincoln and William Rentier
Jesse can find this commemorative photo as soon as he enters the Institute. It’s sitting on an end table on the left side of the foyer.
Civil War Time Photo
This photo and the accompanying text describe the events surrounding William Rentier’s “old war injury” that gets mentioned later. It can be found on the second level of the foyer, tucked into a bookshelf.
First Prototype of the Gauntlet
This fascinating blueprint can be found sitting atop a cabinet on the second level of the foyer, just above the front door. It shows an early prototype of the awesome gauntlet Jesse uses. He’s less than impressed.

RI Files
This heavy tome can be found on a bookshelf on the first level of the library. The description is of an inscription in the book, but it isn’t voiced.
Jesse Among RI Cadets
This charming photograph is found in the library as well, tucked into the back-right corner.

A Portrait of William Rentier
After Jesse meets with his dear old dad, he’s directed to meet up with Agent Feathers, who sets him up to choose an upgrade. Some free advice: get the Free Bullet upgrade; it’s incredible. Following that exchange, a room opens up in the back of the library. This collectible is resting on a leather chair in that room.
Jesse’s Great Grandfather
This portrait isn’t found until well after the other collectibles. It’s tucked into a side passage that runs adjacent to the stairs after the room with the giant Tesla coil.
Evil West was released on November 22, 2022, and is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
